 | - Framed/structured stream
- link level protocols (Cisco/HDLC, PPP)
- Software compatibility with Intel EtherExpress PRO 10+
| The network interface card Medusa enables connectivity for computers with PCI bus via E1 digital trunk transmission equipment in compliance with standards ITU G.703, G.704 É ETSI ETS 300-248, TBR-12 (2048 kbit/sec, unstructured leased line service). In particular, 2 leased TP wires from 0.7 up to 2.2 kms length without intermediate repeaters can be used- that is, interface card can serve as short-range modem (2048 Kbit/sec). (see details here). Design: - The network interface card Medusa is compact, single-board module, using the most modern electronic components.
- Automatic line build-out circuitry enables recieved signal attenuation 0-42 dB @ 1024 khz.
- Qartz-based timing recovery circuit ensures effective jitter attenuation (meets ITU standard G.823 ).
Software Medusa card supports two modes: - Software compatible with Intel Etherexpress 10/pro+.
In that mode only medusa board can be used on peer side. - Netware 3.x, 4x (4.11)
- Windows 95 (ODI, NDIS 2, NDIS 3)
- Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP
- OS/2
- DOS (Packet drivers, NDIS, ODI)
- Linux (kernel > 2.0.33)
- FreeBSD.
- HDLC (PPP, CISCO/HDLC)
Mode switch: - J3=off Pseudo-Ethernet (Software-compatibly with Intel EtherExpress PRO 10+)
- J3=on HDLC (PPP, cisco-hdlc)
(*) Starting from second revision mode is controlled by software utility. Medusa installation: Connection with twisted pair (è1 RJ-45 socket) - 4 - Transmit
- 5 - Transmit
- 1 - Recieve
- 2 - Recieve
Lightning guard: If any part of cable is not within building or under ground - it is necessary to establish on both cable ends protection devices from APC, Mod-Tap, TRIPP LITE , etc. with 200A pulsing current tolerance. Electrical surge protection: - Linear circuits of the interface card ( RJ-45 plug ) are protected by zenner diodes. These circuits meet IEC-801 test conditions:
- 15 kV human body model
- 15 kV air gap discharge
- The semi-conductor components of the interface card can be damaged by static electricity influence .
- It is recommended to hold interface card in antistatic package.
